Luis Exposito Interview

Today I sat down with Catcher Luis Exposito. Selected in the 31st round of the 2005 First Year Player Draft, Luis spent 2006 with the Lowell Spinners and 2007 with the Greeneville Drive. He is from Hialeah, Florida, and signed with the Red Sox in the spring of 2005 after playing only one season at St. Petersburg Community College. BRSA: How do you feel about signing
autographs?
LE: You know its not really a big deal
because I love kids and I always wanted autographs as a child, so I like to give
back to the fans.
BRSA: Do you prefer signing in person or through the mail?
LE: I prefer signing in person, I like to see how happy I
can make a person.
BRSA: About how much mail do you receive?
LE: Not
too much, I'm not that important [Laughing].
BRSA: Any funny stories or memorable moments while meeting/signing for fans?
LE: Not
really.
BRSA: Has an opponent or teammate ever asked you for an autograph?
LE: No, never.
BRSA: Do you collect autographs or memorabilia?
LE: Yes,
I have a bunch of cards, and I used to collect but unfortunately, I never had
any of them signed
BRSA: Do you collect your own cards?
LE: No,
but I heard [the picture] on my 2007 Greenville card is pretty funny.
BRSA: If you could have one persons autograph, who would it be and why?
LE: Charles Johnson, he's my favorite catcher ever.
BRSA: Any requests or advice for autograph collectors who want you or anyone's
autograph?
LE: I would say just be nice about it, and if you see the
person is busy, don't interrupt. Also always try and be polite and know about
the person.
BRSA: Were you a Sox fan before you were drafted? If not what was your favorite
team growing up?
LE: Not really. I hated the Yankees so I liked them
[The Red Sox] but I'm really a Marlins fan just because it's my home team.
BRSA: Have you experienced Red Sox Nation yet? (As in have you felt the fans are
different in Boston than anywhere else?)
LE: Not really, I haven't experienced too much.
BRSA: Favorite baseball moment (college, pro or anything)?
LE: The 2006 New York-Penn League
All Star Game and my first homerun were
pretty awesome.
BRSA: What are your hobbies outside of baseball?
LE: I like fishing, listening to music, and just being
with my family
BRSA: Anything you want to add?
LE: Nope.
BRSA: Alright thanks for taking time out of your schedule and good luck this
season!
